tgif: redbox and things to the rescue!

Being sick in bed for more than a day can be very, very boring.
Thank goodness for redbox, the interweb, and

We watched Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs last night.

(I might have also watched it a few more times today.)
If you didn't get a chance to see it in 3D at the moovays and you enjoy being tortured by images of delicious donuts and things falling from the sky, then you should definitely rent it.

here's one of my favorite scenes...

In other sick day news,

I also found this hilarious website via The Foodinista

These new Time Warp videos from the Discover Channel.

and this new "Upular" remix from Australian dj Pogo.

In September 2008, a nasty fire left the world's best
(in my opinion of course)
brunch/lunch/dinner spot

looking something like this...

but fret not,
according to their website,
they will be serving turtle soup and other deliciousness early this year.
'bout time!
and just in case you are food/brunch obsessed like meeee,
I've included Brennan's famous bananas foster recipe below...

Brennan's Bananas Foster

Bananas Foster
¼ cup (½ stick) butter
1 cup brown sugar
½ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ cup banana liqueur
4 bananas, cut in half lengthwise, then halved
¼ cup dark rum
4 scoops vanilla ice cream

Combine the butter, sugar, and cinnamon in a flambé pan or skillet. Place the pan over low heat either on an alcohol burner or on top of the stove, and cook, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. Stir in the banana liqueur, then place the bananas in the pan. When the banana sections soften and begin to brown, carefully add the rum. Continue to cook the sauce until the rum is hot, then tip the pan slightly to ignite the rum. When the flames subside, lift the bananas out of the pan and place four pieces over each portion of ice cream. Generously spoon warm sauce over the top of the ice cream and serve immediately.

ummmmmmm, yum.

I love Louise Nevelson

one of my favorite quotes:

"I never for one minute questioned what I had to do.

I did not think for one minute that I didn't have what I had.

It just didn't dawn on me. And so if you know what you have,

then you know that there is nobody on Earth that can effect you."

- Louise Nevelson

Louise Nevelson was simply a genius of her time.

hello! hello!

For my first little hello, I figured I'd try and explain where I am coming from with this "toast & mimosa" blog...

One Sunday morning last Summer, my boyfriend and I both found ourselves in need of some serious hair of the dog. By my (or his??) request, toast & mimosas were served. Who would of thought that a simple little meal of buttered toast and delicious mimosas would prove to be such an exciting pairing?! Maybe we are just really easy to please, but many, many weekends later, we still look forward to our happy little Sunday treat. So much so, that if one finds the other getting a little crabby or blue, one just exclaims "toast & mimosa!"
Smiles all around.

So here lies my idea of spreading the same sick joy on to you. Of course I do plan on sharing a few other things that will hopefully be much more helpful and inspiring than this silly little story.

- below are a few photos of some of my favorite people experiencing pure miiimosa joy!

cheers!
